Jacques Brel was born in Belgium on 8 April 1929. A singer-songwriter, he also made a name for himself in the film industry as an actor and director. A poet from the age of 15, Jacques Brel was a faithful reader of Jacques London and Jules Verne. He was also interested in theatre and created a theatre company. His taste for classical music gradually led him to write songs and compose melodies from 1951. The young artist launched his musical career despite his family's disapproval and took part in an audition in 1953. To earn a living, Jacques Brel also gave guitar lessons. Bruno Coquatrix noticed the young man when he played at the Olympia as a curtain raiser. Jacques Brel's first LP came out in 1955 with the now legendary song "Quand on n'a que l'amour". The Belgian singer's success continued to grow. Jacques Brel's hits include "Ne me quitte pas" and "La Valse à mille temps", whose piano score allows fans to practice their keyboard skills.
