Disturbed is a heavy metal band founded in 1994 by Dan Donegan, Steve Kmak, Mike Wengren and David Draiman. Influenced at their beginnings by a style close to that of Metallica and Faith No More, they subsequently made a change towards alternative metal. The group was initially to be called Crawl, but another group already went by the same name. So they took the name of Brawl, which they later changed to Disturbed. The group didn’t release its first album, The Sickness, until 2000. It reached the 20th position on the Billboard 200. Two years later, with a second album named Believe, Disturbed took the first place in the same chart. The album notably included their hit single, Prayer. Certified platinum, the group’s third album, Ten Thousand Fists, also reached the top of the charts. This was followed by Indestructible, Asylum and Immortalized. During the same period, Disturbed released a compilation and two live albums. Some of the group’s songs have appeared on film soundtracks (including South Park and Transformers). Fans of video games are also familiar with the group’s music, which can be found in Guitar Hero III or Need For Speed, to mention but a few. More known for their brand of metal, Disturbed distinguished themselves in 2015 with their cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence, released on their album Immortalized.
