Emeli Sandé is a Scottish singer/songwriter, born on March 10, 1987. She studied medicine in Glasgow but her passion for music soon took the upper hand. She began her musical career writing songs for various artists such as Rihanna, Susan Boyle and Gabrielle. In 2010, she signed a record deal with Virgin EMI, releasing her first single, Heaven, the following year. Her first album, Our Version of Events, which came out in February 2012, was a big success in Great Britain and swiftly went platinum; during the same period, Coldplay chose her as support for their Mylo Xyloto tour. Her album features songs such as Next to Me and Read All About It (Part III). The piano score for the latter tune is available on Noviscore. Her second album was due to come out in the 4th quarter of 2015 but Emeli Sandé decided to hold off until 2016 so as not to clash with the release of a record by her phenomenally successful fellow Brit, Adèle. Emeli need feel no insecurity, however: she has already won the hearts of the public, as confirmed by her nominations at the MOBO Awards, Virgin Media Music Awards, Brit Awards and Swiss Music Awards and the actual reception of 3 Brit Awards to date (Critics’ Choice, British Female Solo Artist, British Album of the Year).
