Mariah Carey is an American singer known for her extraordinary voice, which can span five octaves. As of 2022, she is the best-selling female artist in the world ahead of Madonna. She has also won a multitude of awards including several Grammy Awards throughout her career. She became successful in 1990 with the release of her first album, "Mariah Carey". The 21-year-old singer was just a newcomer at the time, but her talent hit home and the album sold over 15 million copies worldwide. A year later, her second album was just as successful and won two Grammy Awards. In 1993, her third album "Music Box", the biggest hit of her career, propelled her to global stardom. Reluctant to go on tour until then, she finally agreed to perform in the United States to the delight of her fans. In 1994, she released her fourth album, which was just as popular as the previous three. It was a compilation of Christmas songs entitled "Merry Christmas". It is now the best-selling Christmas album in the world. The single "All I Want For Christmas Is You", from this album, has since become a true Christmas anthem sung by millions of people around the world.
