Snoop Dogg is an American rapper and a major figure in gangsta rap. He started his career under the aegis of Dr. Dre, who became his regular producer. His first album, "Doggystyle", was released in 1993. The album, which topped the charts for many months, became a reference in the genre and was one of the best rap albums of all time. However, despite his fame, the artist went through a period of uncertainty with the decline of gangsta rap and his second album, which did not sell as well as the first, was a semi-failure. In 1999, it was his legendary duet with Dr. Dre on the track "Still Dre" that propelled him back into the limelight. "Still Dre" is still the second biggest rap hit in history after Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise". He then embarked on a triumphant tour with Dr. Dre and other rap greats like Eminem and Ice Cube.
