Yiruma Lee Ru-ma, better known as Yiruma (which is Korean for “success”) was born on February 15, 1978, in Seoul. He went on to become a pianist and composer, making a name for himself worldwide with various songs, including River flows in you, Kiss the rain and Love me. Yiruma discovered the piano at the age of 5 and has been smitten with the instrument ever since. When his family moved to England in 1988, the young boy entered The Purcell School of Music, in Bushey, and graduated in 1997, before going on to study at King’s College in London, in 2000. The following year, Yiruma’s compositions were picked up by DECCA records, leading to the release of his first album, Love Scene. Yiruma’s song “River flows in you,” inspired by Samuel Vallée, has overtones of romantic Parisian music.
